LOADSTAR

For journalists and researchers

A number you can cite — and check

The number is free to cite, no permission needed. Each figure names the operator queue file it was read from and the date it was read, and the totals recompute from our public JSON before you publish. Questions in writing go to the LOADSTAR data desk at contact@loadstar.energy. We aim to answer the same business day, and within two business days at most.

How to cite us

Please keep the honest line: the number measures power plants and storage waiting to connect, not data-center demand. It is a floor under our current reading, not a forecast. Unsigned is not the same as fake.

The LOADSTAR Number is free to cite under CC BY 4.0. Credit “LOADSTAR, index.loadstar.energy” and give the as-of date. The license covers our reading and our figures, not the operators’ files. Source files belong to each operator. LOADSTAR is not affiliated with any grid operator.

The problem is on the record

These aren’t citations of LOADSTAR — we’re new. They’re regulators and reporters writing about large loads and the grid. This index reads the supply side, the generation queues. The question is real, and it’s already on the public record:
